The short answer
- Sales tax set up with your GST/HST number and the rates you actually charge.
- Chart of accounts that matches how your business earns and spends.
- Bank and card feeds connected once, not twice, and reconciled.
- Customers, vendors and items deduplicated and named consistently.
- Your inventory or invoicing system synced in, with payments flowing both ways where it matters.
We work alongside your accountant or bookkeeper, not instead of them. Tax decisions stay with them.
Why it matters
Every report, every reminder and every automated invoice reads from the same file. If the file is wrong, everything built on it is wrong too, so the file gets checked and fixed first.
How it runs
- Look first, change nothingWe go through your QuickBooks file and any connected systems read-only, and give you a written list of what is wrong and what it affects.
- Agree the fixes with you and your accountantAnything touching tax or prior periods is your accountant's call. We do the clicking, they make the decisions.
- Fix, then prove itWe check the result against a month whose answer you already know: the bank statement, the sales total, the HST return.
- Then automateOnly once the file is right do we connect invoicing, reminders or anything else to it.
Where we set this up

Questions people ask
Are you accountants?
No. We set up and clean up the system; your accountant or bookkeeper makes the tax and accounting decisions. If you do not have one, we can tell you what to look for.
Can you move us from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online?
Yes. Intuit provides a conversion, and most of the work is checking what came across: open invoices, item lists, sales tax and opening balances.
We already have a QuickBooks file that is a mess. Do we start again?
Usually not. Most files can be cleaned up. Starting again is only worth it when the history is not trustworthy enough to keep, and that is a decision for you and your accountant.
Do you work with Xero?
Yes. The same cleanup applies: tax settings, accounts, feeds, contacts and items.
